The first recipe post, "nutella" bliss balls

This recipe is one of my favourites. Having a sweet tooth but not wanting to consume refined sugar these are great for afternoon sugar cravings.

I use to be Nutella obsessed until I found out it contained palm oil. All you have to do is google the environmental impacts of palm oil and you'll be put off Nutella for life too. These bliss balls are a great flavour replacement for chocolatey & hazelnut goodness. 

They are also vegan, GF and basically guilt free!


1/2 cup raw hazelnuts

1/4 cup blanched almonds 

1/4 cup dates

1/4 LSA

2 Tbsp raw cacao

1 Tbsp carob 

4 Tbsp sweetener of choice, maple syrup, rice malt syrup etc 

3.5 Tbsp coconut oil -melted

1 tsp vanilla essence or vanilla bean paste 

1.5 Tbsp water

Line a tray with baking paper.

Pour the hazelnuts & blanched almonds into a food processor/high powered blender, blitz until roughly chopped (the size of chunky breadcrumbs). Remove nut mix from the blender. Place dates into the blender. Blend on high until it forms a paste. Add the nuts back in as well as the rest of the ingredients, except the water. Blend on high. Be patient, it will take some time to become a dough. You may need to stop and scrap downs the sides. Add the water only if the mixture is too think and not blending.


When you have a thick dough, roll into small balls. Roll each ball in preferred topping and place ball onto the pre-prepared tray. Refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours.


I keep them in the freezer to snack on whenever I feel like. It's also handy for when you take them out with you so they stay cold and the coconut oil won't melt so quickly.
